Dr. Main is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon fellowship trained in Sports Medicine who specializes in complex shoulder and knee injuries.

After earning his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School, Dr. Main completed his orthopaedic surgery residency and then a fellowship in sports medicine at the Center for Athletic Medicine, in affiliation with the University of Illinois.

He worked with the U.S. Soccer Team, the Chicago Fire, and the DePaul Blue Demons as Team Physician. He is currently a Team Physician for University of Wisconsin Parkside, Carthage College and The Freestyle Academy (and cares for seven UFC veterans).

Dr. Main emphasizes conservative, non-surgical care but if surgery is necessary he provides truly state of the art minimally invasive and all arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery. He has performed over 3,000 arthroscopic surgeries including over 1,000 all arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs and repairs for unstable/dislocating shoulders (Labrum) and SLAP repairs.

Shoulder replacement techniques include Hemi arthroplasty, Total Shoulder Arthroplasty, glenoid resurfacing and the “Reverse” shoulder replacement for complex arthritic shoulders with rotator cuff tears.

Knee surgeries include meniscus repair, meniscus transplant, small incision ACL reconstruction, PCL , LCL and other complex reconstructions.

Knee replacement techniques include Partial Knee (“Uni”), Oxinium Total Knee, “Deuce” knee, patella only resurfacing, and the “Visionaire” MRI/Computer assisted custom total knee replacement.
